TRC Calls to Action

Reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action really opened my eyes to the lasting effects of residential schools and why reconciliation is so crucial in Canada. I was amazed by how many areas these calls cover, like education, child welfare, health, and justice, highlighting that reconciliation isn’t just a single step but an ongoing effort in all parts of society.

What really hit home for me is that these calls aren’t just for governments they’re for everyone, including educators like me. It made me think about my role in fostering awareness, respect, and real change in my classroom. I’ve come to see that reconciliation involves continuous learning, listening, and action. This document is a powerful reminder that acknowledging the past is important but actively working towards creating a fairer and more respectful future is just as important.
